Hazel’s House Rescue

Local Hub Nonprofit Partner

Hazel’s House Rescue is a foster-based animal rescue founded in 2017 with a mission that goes beyond rescuing animals. Their work is rooted in supporting pets, their people, and the community, with a major focus on helping animals stay in the homes where they are already loved.

What began as an in-home rescue has grown into a foster-based organization with a 980-square-foot office used for supplies, animal intake, and adoptions, with hopes of expanding into additional space as their programs continue to grow.

Hazel’s House primarily works with cats and dogs, but over the years their doors have also opened to guinea pigs, ferrets, rabbits, bearded dragons, and even a bird. Because apparently once you dedicate your life to animal rescue, the universe starts sending you every species it can find.

Their community outreach is an especially important part of their mission. Hazel’s House operates a growing pet food bank, assists with spay and neuter services for owned, stray, and feral cats, and helps community members facing emergency veterinary expenses. These programs share one goal: preventing animals from having to leave their forever homes simply because their families need a little help.

Hazel’s House is powered by fosters, volunteers, and donations, along with an incredible amount of dedication behind the scenes.

Meet Brittany

Brittany has been involved in animal welfare since 2017. After two years of mentorship, she took the reins of Hazel’s House Rescue and has continued growing both the rescue and its impact on the community.

And somehow, because running an animal rescue apparently wasn’t enough to put on one human’s calendar, Brittany also works full-time in the recycling industry, where she has spent the past 15 years.

At home, she and her wife have quite the crew of their own: four senior dogs and six cats, including an 11-year-old who happens to be the newest addition to the family.

Why We Chose Hazel’s House

Choosing Hazel’s House as The Local Hub’s nonprofit partner was an easy decision for me.

I’ve watched Brittany and Hazel’s House over the years, and I’ve seen firsthand the passion she brings to this community. Brittany is incredibly kind and compassionate, and she genuinely cares about the people and animals around her.

She goes the extra mile for her animals, fosters, adopters, and community. She works incredibly hard, shows up when people and animals need her, and has built something that makes our community better.

When I decided to add a nonprofit to The Local Hub, I wanted to be selective. I didn’t want to add an organization simply so we could say we had one. I wanted a nonprofit I genuinely believed in and would feel proud asking our Local Hub community and businesses to support.

Hazel’s House was that organization.

We’re incredibly excited to have Hazel’s House Rescue as part of The Local Hub and to use our community to help amplify their needs, fundraisers, adoptions, outreach programs, and the incredible work they’re already doing.
